A tropical sun-kissed luxury wedding at Casa de la Era - Marbella, Spain
Last Saturday we had the joy of capturing Abbie and George’s wedding in Marbella, at the beautiful Casa de la Era. Nestled in the mountains yet with views that stretch to the sea, the venue felt like a hidden gem—private, lush, and filled with light. It was the perfect backdrop for a day that blended elegance, emotion, and pure celebration. I was so excited to be capturing the day with these two, their love story was like out of a movie. They met in a pub after travelling to their home town from London at Christmas, and the rest is history.. How magical is that..
When we arrived, Abbie was just finishing her hair and makeup, glowing with happiness even before stepping into her dress. About half an hour later, she walked out in her dress—and it was breathtaking. The clean lines and elegant cut of the dress shimmered in the sunlight, with a stunning back detail that suited her perfectly. From that moment, everything felt real, and the energy of the morning shifted into celebration. Surrounded by her bridesmaids and mom in the gardens, those first portraits captured her joy and anticipation beautifully. Meanwhile, George was with his groomsmen enjoying a relaxed start to the day. Beers in hand and plenty of laughter between them, we captured portraits on the venue’s stone steps.
The ceremony space was a dream—vibrant florals in orange and yellow, set against the natural green of the gardens. Guests gathered in anticipation, and as Abbie walked down the aisle with her father, George, the groom, was in tears. Photographing the ceremony from two angles, including aerial views with the drone, gave us both intimate and sweeping perspectives of such a beautiful and emotional moment. Their connection throughout the vows was magnetic, and it set the tone for the entire day.
After the ceremony, the wine flowed as friends and family surrounded the couple in celebration. We took time for a few family portraits before exploring the venue’s historic staircases and sunlit gardens with the bridal party and the couple. Those quiet minutes with Abbie and George in golden light were some of the most magical magical moments, so timeless and so elegant.
Dinner carried through the tropical theme of the day, with fruit-inspired table décor that shimmered as the evening sun dipped low. The speeches were moving —and documentary photography capturing not just words, but the feeling and atmosphere of the moment. The laughter, tears, and reactions painted a vivid picture of just how much everyone cherished the couple. As the sun set, we stole away for a final few portraits overlooking their guests from above—a private moment with views of the celebration below, bathed in golden rays. For me as a fashion forward wedding photographer, this part of the day was a dream: the elegance of their style meeting the beauty of the Spanish light and landscape.
The evening turned into a full-on celebration with an espresso martini tower that brought everyone together, laughter and clinking glasses filling the space before the dance floor erupted. Disco balls, sparklers, and even a little fire installation by the DJ set the stage for a party that was every bit as stylish as the couple themselves. Abbie and George danced endlessly, completely immersed in the happiness of the moment. For an editorial wedding photographer, it was the perfect combination of atmosphere, design, and raw emotion—every detail worth framing.
Weddings like this are a joy to capture. The mix of natural feeling, editorial beauty, and cinematic detail is what makes each celebration unique. Abbie and George’s day at Casa de la Era showed how photography—on both digital and film—can hold on to not just how everything looked, but how it truly felt.
